  Capturing 1024 x 576 via the Kona LH… is it possible?

  Hello,
  the title pretty much says it all…
  I’m going from HDV via component from a little firewire controlled HDV deck. I’m telling FCP to see it as full fat High Def (1920 x 1080) Though I actually want it translated to 1024 by 576…

  I know this might seem a bit ludicrous, but I just need to see if its possible or not.

  When I capture HDV and upconvert through the LH to HD, it comes in fine.. 1920 by 1080 – 10 bit uncompressed….
  However if I go into my capture presets and change to a custom frame size of 1024 x 576, it still arrives as 1920 x 1080.

  Any of you kind contributors know anything about this?

  As 1024×576 is not a video standard, no, FCP and the Kona will not capture 1024×576. You will have to edit at 1920×1080 and resize/crop at the very end if you need a 1024×576 movie.

  Just curious, why 1024×576?

  I thought as much myself… We have a couple of jobs with freelance Shake operators and After effects guys who are a little unaware of how this stuff works with FCP… They seem to perceive 1024×576 as having higher defintion… (?)
  I’m going through the whole having to prove it nonsense!

  Hmm that seems really strange to me. A simple look at the numbers will tell you that 1920×1080 has more pixels (resolution) than 1024×576.

  What’s the final destination?
