    So, i am doing a piece on monster movies and need to bring in some old films that are now P.D.. I used handbrake to get some clips in and they came with audio and everything. they slow down the computer like all hell but i figured out how to get those MP4 files exported out of quicktime and into .mov files and into final cut…

    well, i must have figured ti out on accident because some of my clips are NOT coming into final cut. it says file error: unknown file.

    i thought i had it all figured out but all to no avail. does anyone have any fail-proof ways to get DVDs into final cut using free software like handbrake. if you have a handbrake solution, let me know that as well. some of these are 16:9 clips and some are 4:3

    let me know!

    Just because the original titles are in public domain does not mean you can just rip any old DVD and use it. I’d check to make sure that the DVD you’re ripping is not protected under a new copyright.
