I edited a play in FinalCut 3 in OS9. I have a G-4, dual processor with OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.4. I exported my project as a Quicktime, self-contained movie, DV NTSC 720×480 from Final Cut in OS9. I used Cleaner 6 to make mpeg files in OS 10. I have a Lacie D2 DVD burner and tried to use the Roxio Toast 6 Lite that came with it to Burn to DVD. No luck. Error message in Toast Lite was “Could not record. Problem with source material. result code 18774

It has been suggested to use IDVD. I am looking for a simple solution to produce mutiple copies of this one project. If I-DVD is the answer, do I have to buy it as part of IWorks since IDVD is not installed on my computer?

Yes, you’ll need to buy iLife. But for the price you’ll get multiple programs, so it’s a good value.

You’d drag that self-contained Quicktime movie into iDVD and then work from there. iDVD will do the compression and handle the burning. It looks like it will do everything you need and you can’t beat the ease-of-use.
