I’m having trouble printing HD Cam footage to video in FCP. My timeline settings are matched up identically with the media, which is a self-contained quicktime file, but when I try to print to video, I lose time code within the first few seconds of the media EVERY time. I can’t get a consistent signal into the camera.

I’ve tried several times. I even tried bringing the footage into iMovie in hopes I could just capture to tape from there, but when it captures, it adjusts the aspect ratio and places a black bar on the left hand side of the screen.

Anybody have any experience with this?

HDCAM to DV is much better accomplished using something like a Kona card to do the downconversion for you. It’s realtime and you simply feed a Composite signal to your DV camera along with RCA Analog audio.

Correction, I’m exporting to HDV. Probably should have mentioned that. Will the Kona card still work?
