How many of you are using the ATTO Celerity FC-41ES card with a new Mac Pro Dual 3.0?

I just had a system built by ProMax without the fiber channel card and I also installed a TerraBlock 12D (which requires this card). I’m having issues with dropped frames and loosing audio sync. I’ve updated all of the software to its current versions. No luck.

So, I’m trying to find a common denominator here to help solve this issue.

the terrablock doesn’t require that card, it is just recommended, other cards work, but can be buggy with mounting drives. As of now I am against the mac pro, I have had nothing but problems and crashes with it.

    ATTO survey?

Not the one they have recently canvased by email then?

Just not to give the MacPro a bad rap, I’m yet to have a crash with mine.

[Wayne Carey] “(which requires this card).”

No systems require a specific Fibre Channel card, it’s just recommended by the manufacturer of the array. In our case Ciprico recommended the 42ES and it’s working well.

Our Mac Pro on the other just died after only one week on the job. DIMM Riser B is completely unrecognized by the system and it’s going in for repair tomorrow. Gonna be out of service for a week. Hopefully not a harbinger of future performance of this machine.

    Walter, I feel your pain,

1/2 of the spot welds at the top of MP case popped the first time it was shipped. The machine was 10days old and I was told it would take 30 days to replace under warranty.

Mine however runs just fine, it just looks like a convertible with the top half down.

Well that’s a cool look! As luck would have it, Daystar Technologies is right here in my area and are an authorized Apple Repair Center. Yep, the same Daystar of the Genesis Quad fame of the 90’s. So at least I don’t have to go far to get it repaired.

Yeah… I have them and Facilis scratching their heads.

    [Peter Wiggins] “ATTO survey?”

Seems that everybody is missing my point. I have talked with tech support at ATTO and Facilis (TerraBlock) and both are stumped and confused by my issue with the Mac Pro. And of course, ATTO did pont out that the final driver will be available in November BUT that doesn’t help me now.

My original question was to find out what ATTO cards people are using in their Mac Pros. Hopefully, I could find a common thread IF people who are having problems are using the same card as I.

UPDATE: After scratching my head, puzzled with the problem… I finally decided to use the Apple Hardware Test to check my hardware. It turns out that I have two pairs of bad memory. Somewhere on those memory bars there are some bad chips, therefore causing my dropped frames and audio sync troubles.

Go figure…. the easiest things are always the last thing we do.
