  • Capturing with Canon XL -H1

I’ve shot some footage with a Canon XL-H1 camera and am trying to capture it with FCP 5.04. Set all my presets to HDV but FCP still does not recognize the camera. Do I need a special plug in or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

That camera was not supported in 5.04. You need to go to 5.1, and if you shot 24F mode, you need to go to 5.1.2

Capturing HDV with Canon XL-H1 (PAL)

Disconnect all cables, set the [Playback Std] to [HDV], set the [HD Down-Conv] to [OFF].
    Connect the cables.
In FCP 5.1.2 set the easy setup to HDV-1080i50.
After verifying you can capture with it, you can change settings.. (Isn’t really necessary)

I don’t know if it works with 5.0.4 or 5.1 because I bought 5.1 and updated it to 5.1.2.
I thought the problem was the software, but it turned out to be the camera.
