  Sapphire or Tinderbox – I can only afford one – but which one??

  I’m looking to buy some really cool plugins for AE. Evidently, Sapphire and Tinderbox are the most acclaimed. Does anyone have an opinion as to which one is the best?

  Hello Jim,

  Tinderbox are for more specific effects where you build them to get looks. Were as the Sapphire has a lot more plugins 175 of them. They are various sections and they intergrate to create some really nice effects mixing them up etc. Such as blurs, etc.

  However the Tinderbox have fewer plugins but they are moreaimed for a specific look such as old video, etc.

  I would go with the Sapphire that’s just my opinion. As the plugins are more organic and you can then apply these more to every day uses.

  You should download the demos and evaluate and see what best fits your needs.

  Yes, if you really want to spend so much money, it’s a wiser choice. I myself have never been a friend of those extremely pricey suites for various reasons, but if you take the plunge, Sapphire certainly will certainly boost your creativity more. Tinderbox is still nice, but the effects are very “finalized” and cannot be combined as flexibly. And I agree with Leo – they are very specific and thus some of them will catch a lot of dust on your hard drive because you won’t use them.
