  • Make HDV footage look like old footage and take sharpness of the image down techniques

    Hello,

I have some footage shot on the JVC HD100 HDV camera, however in Adobe After Effects 7.0 pro I want to give the footage the apperance of old 70’s Zombie horror film style. In terms of colour, slighty out of focus looking basically quite old film. I have been playing about with old film looks but the footage just looks way to sharp and clean still. Looks like I am placing an effect over the clip rather then the effect being part of the clip.

If anyone has any tips on making super sharp footage look older and worn that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Hello,

I need to soften video down so it does not look modern as it’s to sharp from what source files I have and need to make it look a bit old the footage the colouring is not so much a problem but i’s taking the sharpness out of the image, as if the video has been stored away and the transfer to video was not very good.

copy the sourcelayer, put a blur on it and set the transparency to 50%. That should take away a lot of the sharpness without defocussing too much.

    Hello,

I tried that and it works well on this particular footage I have. Thanks for the tip on this one.

    Thanks,
