I am faced with the task of finishing and outputing a sequence that was started in a 23.98fps project, but needs to go out as 29.97fps for broadcast.
I am curious as to the best way to accomplish this without too many
potential anomalies with frame jitter or sync slippage. Is Cinema Tools
    the best solution?

    Thanks for the help…

Hmm…I am outputting to HDCAM then having that downconverted thru a Terranex box. Notsure what you should do.

Try dropping it into an uncompressed 8-bit SD timeline and rendering and see how it looks.

How about outputting to dvcpro hd on a 1200a and then running it through a
Panasonic UFC? Or what would happen if I exported a QT file and then re-imported to a 29.97 project?

All things I could try, anyone have any practical experience with these alternatives?

    Thanks as always,

Get yourself an AJA Kona card. The downconversion is done in hardware and done in real time. All you have to do is press play.

If that’s not an option, You could export your movie to After Effects and have After Effects scale and add the pulldown. Render out as an animation (so the colors stay true) bring that resulting move back into FCP, render and layoff. Make an HD master and send it out to a dub house for downconversion. Rent a 1200a/1400 deck and use that to downconvert.

    There’s many many options.
