  Title Safe isn’t visible/not working

  Hi..

  I upgraded my final cut pro studio to version 5.1 and ever since I haven;t been able to see the title safe/action safe lines in the Canvas window. I have the ‘show title safe’ option checked, as well as the ‘show overlays’ option.. when i select the ‘show excess luma’ option it shows me the zebra stripes as it should, and the timecode overlays work fine as well.. it’s just the title/action safe that aren’t wokring properly.

  Any ideas.

  Try trashing your preferences for FCP…

  I saw this recently with a client. Check your System Preferences > Displays and ensure that your Colors pop-up button is set to millions. Let us know if that is the issue.

  I tried that but it didn’t work. it was set to thousands instead of millions but changing it to millions had no effect on the overlays. I’m going to try tossing my prefs next.

  I have a better idea. Change the System Preference setting while FCP is not open. Quit FCP, make sure the settings are changed, and then open FCP again and your problem will be solved, I promise. Deleting Prefs is far too often recommended for problems that are simply not understood, and it will not help you with this particular problem.
