I recently finished a project shot with the Varicam at 24P recodered onto DVCPRO HD Tapes.

    The workflow was as follows:

Imported all footage at 59.94FPS. There was initial errors when attempting to capture removing the advanced pulldown, so I figured I would edit everything at the native speed of the tape. I did my complete edit at 59.94.

Once the edit was completed, I exported an EDL, as well as a batch list for the color correct.

We confromed on a Discreet Smoke, and about halfway through the process we discovered that the CMX 3600 EDL that I exported out of FCP, was completely inaccurate, at not consitently inaccurate. After many hours of trying to get an accurate edl, we had to do a manual conform against the roughcut. In short it turned into a 25 hour day.

If anyone has any idea what would cause FCP to not export an accurate EDL, I would love to know, so that I can make sure this problem does not occure in the future.

    Thanks!

you cannot do a 59.94 fps EDL, as this frame rate did not yet exist in linear tape based edit rooms when the CMX protocol was invented.

    the only supported frame rates are 29.97, 30, 25, 23.98, 24.
