Ok, so i am going to buy Lumiere HD to digitize the Sony HDV 63 minute mini dv tapes. They used the JVC GY-HD100 to shoot and i was going to rent a JVC BR-HD50 to digitize the footage. Is there a compatability issue with digitizing Sony HDV tapes with a JVC HD mini dv deck?

    please advise. thanks!

No as long as the frame rates are the same. The GOP structure is different between Sony’s shot material and JVC’s format, but Lumiere HD conforms the JVC to the sony song as it were. Long GOP is what results and it’s what FCP can edit.

Are you trying to capture tapes shot with a sony camera? or just using Sony stock. If it’s just the stock, you have no problem, but you won’t be able to playback material shot with a sony camera in the JVC deck don’t think.
