Is there a way to take a FCP 5.1.1 project and make it a FCP 5.0.4 project so that someone with and older version can open it? Thanks for the help, can’t find anything posted anywhere.

    Hi There,

You can export the 5.1.1 project as an XML file and import it into 5.0.4.
I did this exact thing last week and it worked fine.

    Good Luck

How about from 5.0.4 to 4.5?

I have used this XML work-around with FCP 5 to 4.5 with XML version 1. I have upgraded a Dual 1.8 GHz G5 to FCP 5.1 and exported an XML to a Dual G5 2.7 GHz with FCP 5.0.4. When I try to import the XML file, I get this message:

“XML Translation was aborted due to a critial error.”

I have tried exporting just the sequence and the entire project file as XML, but neither work. I have tried XML version 1 and 2.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    issimo
