  EDL issue

  I am trying to export EDLs from Final Cut Pro 5.0.2. For some of my sequences nothing happens when i try to export the EDL. Is this still the same promblem I read about in the archive from 2004? Does anyone have any fixes?

  Hi Bridget! Welcome to the forum!

  For starters, you should be running FCP 5.0.4 on OS 10.4.7 with QuickTime 7.1.2. If you’re not, I’d update to that combo…

  I don’t need to export EDL’s often, but haven’t seen this going on here with that setup of the software. But you say this is not always the case? Just some sequences? Is there something common between them like say, they don’t have reel names and are not all from tape or something?

  Well the sequences even the ones that work are in the Avid Meridian Codec. They were digitzed on an Avid and exported as Quicktimes and brought into FCP. Some were Automatic Ducked in as well. So nothing has reel numbers. The EDLs are pretty much useless but are required by the contract with the client. We are not running the latest quicktime and we do need to upgrade to 5.0.4.

  An EDL without reel names? sheesh… oh THAT wil be usefull. I’d guess that without this information you can’t export one. Might simply try assigning reel names to everything… But it would still be very useless I’d think.
