    Hi

working on a dv timeline w dv footage. took a clip, ran it backwards, the clip got soft. dropped shift fileds filter on it, the clip got sharp, BUT when i rendered the clip it got soft then i shut off shift fileds, clip got sharp again BUT when i rendered it for the second time, the clip got soft again!!

sooo, with rt playback (no render) the clips looked ok, but when i rendered they looked soft

after searching this forum, i tried shutting off frame blending. Now the clip plays sharp in real time AND when rendered

    any ideas, comments, or criticisms?

Frame blending, by definition softens the image. With many types of images its helpful…a necessary tradeoff to achieve a smoother slo mo. It’s not good for every type of shot, which is why you can turn it off. It’s processor intensive, which is why it requires rendering. Not sure what you are asking.

just asking if what i found made sense ie the difference between real time and rendered and how frame blending affected it
