    Hi,

Just noticed the Shake price drop. I’d been looking at a few options to get smooth slow-mo for FCP, now Shake is cheap it’s become an option.
I’m not really into compositing or FX as I do mostly straight documentary, I would however like good slow-mo. Wondering what else I’d get with Shake that I’d use??? Does if have any film grain filters ala magic bullet?? anything else exciting? would it be the tool of choice for slowmo now it’s cheap???

    Thanks,

    Johnny White

Go to the Apple site and look at the feature set. That will tell you whether or not you want to purchase it.

That’s one way to look at it but it still has the same features it had before we knew about the new app and while it was still 3K. So the question is can you make your money back? It won’t be obsolete until you can’t use it anymore.

It’s a great app and worth every penny, even when it was 2999.
It has great keyers, and the image stabilizer is amazing.
And it has blur filters that make image bluring a feast (optical defocus), -it’s true and I’am not using drugs
and it has a film grain filter

I work on documentaries as well and I use Shake. We do a lot of recreations and green screening and every tool I tried didn’t do as good a job as Shake did. Not only because I needed to green screen the shots, but add smoke (created in Motion) and add camera shake to make it look hand held. Since the good plugins for green screening cost $200-$300, and SHake cost $500, I went for Shake and the other possibilities it offered, like good slow motion.

Keep in mind that you’ll need time to learn Shake. If all you want is good slow motion, look into Re:Vision Twixtor and Re:Vision Fields Kit. Together they give the best possible slow motion possible.

Yeah, but how much do those cost? over $600 together so you might as well get Shake and get the rest of the package. Since you can RT with FCP and Shake, it seems like a great plugin.

As some one else said (was it Walter?)… a couple of basic uses and it’s paid for…
