Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy P2 Card import

  • Posted by Justin Nirk on July 10, 2006 at 6:06 pm

I recently transferred all my P2 Card video from the camera to my storage drive, and then imported it all into FCP. All the clips imported just fine, except one. It is a clip that is roughly 5 minutes long. Every time I try and import the clip, it gives me this error: “The current capture scratch drive(s) are too full. Please remove the files from these drives or select a new capture scratch location”

My scratch drive has about 800 gigs free on it. It is far from full. I recently shot some new footage and that all imported just fine. It was about 16 gigs worth of footage. My only other guess would be my low RAM, I only have 512 DDR2 SDRAM

My versions of software and hardware specs are:

    FCP: 5.0.4

    QT: 7.1.2

    Mac: OSX 10.4.7

    PowerPC G5

    4 x 2.5 GHZ

    512 DDR2 SDRAM

That really is a VERY low amount of RAM. YOu should have at least 1.5GB for DVCPRO HD editing…2.5 for comfort.

But go into your SYSTEM SETTINGS and verify that you have the right disk set up as your Scratch Disk. It might be defaulting to the internal. (Check how much space your internal drive has as well).

Thx for the reply. Yea, aware of the Ram problem. Thought that might be the problem. However it is set to the external drive but the internal drive has 174gb anyway. Any other thougths? Thx.

I’d address the RAM issue. Since you indicate it is a large clip, it might be running into a wall when it comes to the memory.

Well…we upgraded RAM to 4gb. Still having the scratch disk full error. Any new thoughts?

I have no answer to you question, but I have the same issue.
I am trying to import a 10.67 GB clip, it wont import from the FS-100.
yet a clip just after that one at 10.31 was imported just fine.
    looking for answer.
    cheers
