  • Configuring and Getting VO Tool to work

Posted by Sherwood Ball on July 8, 2006 at 10:05 pm

I have a MOTU mkIII audio/midi interface that I use for Logic Audio Pro. When I set up the preferences in FCPro 4.5HD and the source
and output in the VO Tool for my PCIX-424 card, nothing gets
    recorded.

The level is fine on the Motu, it’s even fine in the OSX4.6
    Sound/Input pref’s.

How come it won’t show up on the VO Tool?
I have the in and out points set and the audio track armed
    in FCPro.

I’ve also tried plugging a headset/mic into the back of my
G5 Dual2.5Ghz mini plug inputs in the back of the tower,
changed all the pref’s in OSX, FCPro Audio/Video settings
and on the VO Tool. STILL NOTHING.

I was told I should update to FCStudio 5, but not in the middle of a project,
    which I am right now.

I would like to use my studio audio rig, but would be happy
with just the headset mic consolation prize for temp narration
on the fly or just logging editing notes as I go.

Can anyone help get this pup to work?
    THNX.

Upgrading to FCS 5.1 won’t make any difference, nothing changed in the way FCP handle the v/o tool.
I use the Griffen iMic USB device and a headset mic. Works great for what I need to do. I could use a far better microphone but I bring our best audio in via tape.
Most of the successful voice over posts we’ve seen over the years use USB audio devices.
Sorry not to be able to offer more help.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
