My Edit System Consists of a Dual 2.5 G5, 4GB, Ram Nividia 6800, 3.5 TB Xserve Raid 5. My sequence is a 58:30 with IMX50 Footage with several Motion files overlaying my sequence. The Xraid is nowhere near maxing out it’s bandwidth and the CPU is only running at 80%. Shouldn’t it be running around 120%-170%. Compressor runs aroun 170-180%. At the most I’ve seen FCP run at 99%. What gives?

Remember OSX allocates system resources as needed to keep your workflow running smoothly… If your not having problems ie slowups, I wouldn’t worry about it…

FCP has to really be pushed to use much more CPU cycles… like rendering can do this, if you don’t see it slow down you don’t have a problem… Quite frankly, it won’t use what it doesn’t need (good thing too, that way you can render in another app at the same time).
