  • Saving RAM preview instead of render out?

Posted by Jimmy Brunger on December 6, 2006 at 12:03 pm

Just a quick one – I wondered, provided I’m rendering progressive and not fielded, if I save my RAM preview file to disk rather than preview it then then add to render queue to re-render it, etc. Do I come out with the same file?

What I mean is – it *looks* the same I think..is anything not rendered in the RAM preview (apart from fields of course) that would be added if I rendered it out traditionally? Justs seems alot quicker if you’ve already spent 5 minutes waiting for the RAM prev, to not have to wait again to properly render it out..

Never tried it before today, but like I say, the files seem to look the same and are same size.

    Any thoughts ppl?
    Thanks, Jim.

Technically there is no difference if you render at full res. The only thing to be aware of that would make a difference is things like OpenGL and in some cases guide layers.

Yeah, usually do my final preview at full res/best qual with mo blur on, so should be ok to use as final renders then? Great..time saved!!

Don’t really use Open GL to preview much at mo, but if I do I’ll be sure to do some texts to check again the RAM prevs.

    Thanks Mylenium.

Great stuff, thanks Dave. Like I said, I’d never really thought of not using the render queue..I’ve just always used it and assumed it is the way you are *SUPPOSSED* to render out final work. I guess it’s only really beneficial if you are setting a bunch of renders off at once and leaving them to run, or for multi-format renders.

    Have I got that right?

Ahh..didn’t see that. Thanks. I’ve replied in that thread.

    Jim.
