  Non universal FCP on MacBookPro, Is it possible?

  Hi.

  I haven’t yet received my universal upgrade (the DVDs lost at Apples side et al) but I’m promised they’ll eventually come.

  Problem is: I need to do a shot from HVX-200 to a MacBook Pro Very soon. And this takes ages.

  I’m sitting on a brand new MBP just for this purpose, but the upgrade takes forever.

  Is it possible to use the regular FCP?
  I guess I could still get it over with the import user command.

  No! It will not work. You will need the Universal Version.

  I also have an iBook 1.42 ghz with 1.5 Gb RAM

  Could it do the trick?

  I’ve read that FCP will run on it, thru emulation that makes it creep… You really want the Universal version I’d think for sure though.

  I’d go with the iBook. It won’t be the fastest thing on the planet but it should get the job done. Running it in the Emulation mode is just asking for trouble. Better to go with “slow and steady” on the iBook that you can at least trust won’t mess up somehow.
