    Please, please help!!!!
As I’m trying to capture, edit or in the middle of any other operation, FCP keeps quiting enexpectedly, leaving me with my desktop and a message asking me if I want to report it?

I used to have a dual 866 with FCP HD 4.5, which was great and never had any troubles. A week ago I bought a dual 1.25ghz change my hard drives from the old 866 into the new one, upgraded the OS to 10.4.6 and put an aditonal 120gig hard drive. Ever since my life has become a nightmare trying to work on FCP with constant crashings, and quiting.

I have deleted my preference and rebuild the permissions. I have also re installed FCP many times, but still keeps doing the same thing making impossible to achieve any work.

Could someone help me please. Any guidence as to what to do to fix this problem would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply.
    Cheers.

Is your new hard drive a SATA connected drive, firewire or any other kind of connection?

Maybe your problem isn’t FCP but this new hard drive you bought… If your SATA connected that may be your problem.

It is a internal drive and I’m currently not using at all with my project.
Basically still only using the drives that I took from my old mac.
    Becoming more and more desperate.
    Thanks for you time.

You might try taking all of the extra drives out of the system and see if FCP is stable with only the Apple supplied drive in your new machine. If it is…. you can narrow the problem to your other drives. If it isn’t, you will know the problem lies elsewhere.

If none of that points to the problem, please post as much information about your system as you can…. all software versions (including Quicktime), what drives? what firmware? It seems you made a lot of changes simultaneously, which makes troubleshooting harder to do.

Make sure you’re still running QT 6.5 or whatever the last QT 6 update was. If you let QT update to 7.0 when you updated your OS, that will cause issues with FCP 4.5.
