  • S video out on a lap top do we get full screen canvas/viewer ?

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a MacbookPro for location rough cut offline editing but using DV as the codec on FCP using external firewire drive, is the S video out on the lap top alright to feed an external monitor for full screen general client viewing during editing ?

    Thanks

there may be some connector to turn the DVI out into a video signal.

i use the s-video out on my Powerbook quite a bit.
but it;s not a true video out.
it;s not interlaced, which can be a good thing:
with the show i’m doing now, we’ll be going to film eventually.
the S-video out gives us a kind of “instant film-look”

canvas out of FCP is pretty lo-res, though.

Not unless you want to show them mush.

DV looks best when you use the firewire out to a DV/A converter then on to a NTSC/PAL monitor.
