Does anyone know how to fix the little pops that occur when slicing and combining an audio track.

For example, I’d like to cut out two words within a sentence recorded for a voice over narrtion. So the sentence goes ” And, over twice the size of Washington D.C.”. I want it to say “And the size of Washington D.C.” and eliminate “over twice”. When I slice the two words out and push the beginning and end of the clip together, there is a little pop that can be heard.

Any tricks for seemlessly joining the two cut audio clips within FCP? This has happened to me several times with all types of audio and I never fixed it in the past.

Also, are there any benchmarks for setting audio levels? I have a voice over track, a score track and ambient track. I’ve lowered the ambient track to -40 db and the score to -7. I’m not sure what level to have the voice over so it’s clear and legible. Is this somewhat subjective or are their guidelines?

    Thanks.

You can zoom in on the waveform in the Viewer or Timeline, and drop out the audio in increments of 100th of a frame with key frame indicators, and simply dropping the obvious waveform of the pop if they are in the middle of something.

2 frame audio dissolves sometimes makes them go away between cuts if you are sure to render them.

Listen to your mix using monitoring on the samel level of speaker system you’re program’s audience will use, AND with the best you can afford. And mix it with your ears, not levels per se.

Average peak at -12 dB on a digital meter and you’re good to go for no digital distortion added.
