Sony LUMA for presentation monitor?
Does anyone have any experience with Sony’s new LUMA line of LCD monitors? They have apparently stopped manufacturing SD CRT presentation monitors (though some resellers still have them in stock), and are pushing this LUMA line. Of course, all their sales materials make them sound better than CRT’s for SD applications. Is anyone using them? Or know someone who is?
I am particularly interested in the Sony LMD2010 20″ LUMA, which goes for about $1K with the current rebate offer. Either that, or I’ll pick up a PVM-20L1, the “old” SD CRT monitor, for about the same price.
What do people think about this issue?

They are required by environmental regulations to cease all production of the CRT’s. That’s why you’ll notice that Panasonic no longer makes CRT’s as well.
I’ve heard nothing good regarding the LUMA series, especially in terms of their blacks. Because LCD’s are always “on” they cannot display black as true black, it’s more of a very dark grey. So this affects the overall image quality.
According to Sony these are supposed to be SMPTE-C phosphor accurate, but I haven’t seen that yet. There’s nothing I’ve seen yet that replaces a CRT in terms of SMPTE-C colors.
