This has been happening off and on lately and so far, I can’t figure out why.

I do most of my work using the Kona2 card, working in uncompressed 10-bit HD with the black magic codec. Lately, however, I’ve been having problems exporting .aif files from HD projects (possibly SD; still experimenting). Even if I’m exporting a quicktime movie with the audio uncompressed, it comes out horribly distorted. I would compare it to the sound a dentist drill makes inside your head. It’s awful.

any clues as to why this may be happening? I’ve trashed prefs.

I noticed that this problem only seems to happen when I have my Easy Setup set to one of the HD Kona settings. I switched over to an SD setting and exported and it worked fine. So… if anyone else has this problem… give that a try.

Could the problem be to do with playback rather than the file? Have you tried putting the exported QT into a new Kona HD project to see if it’s a playback codec issue?

As a Kona 2 user, I’d like to know how you get on – keep us posted (and give us your system details).

Playing back the audio that’s imported is fine. It’s when I export a quicktime (for internet posting or whatnot) the audio comes out horribly glitched. I don’t think the board is at fault, but something to do with the settings in FCP when the board is in use.

Bear in mind, I’m also still running FCP 4.6 and quicktime whatever-came-before-7.

Can I suggest (if you havn’t already) that you post in the Kona forum – perhaps the issue you have is version-related, possibly the Kona drivers, or FCP or QT (or combination of each/all three).

I have found Kona/AJA customer support excellent in the past, and worth a contact.
