  FCP capture device recognition

  Suddenly my FCP HD software run on my Mac Powerbook (Operating on OS 10.4.6) does not recognise any camera HD or SD or DV player, where as Imovie HD and SD does. I have dumped the FCP preferences and started a fresh, i have even unistalled FCP and re-installed but still the same problem persists. If Imovie didnt work then i would suspect the firewire port/hardware but as it does i am now at a loss for ideas. Can anyolne help me out?
