  • FCP not detecting second monitor as for preview IE: “digital cinema desktop preview – secondary”

Posted by Justin Tan on March 28, 2006 at 10:51 pm

Hey all, not sure if this is directly realted to FCP or not, but in FCP – I use to be able to go to View\preview and there would be an option for digital cinema desktop preview – Primary and digital cinema desktop preview – secondary

I have recently formatted and now only have the option for primary… is there something I can do to enable to secondary monitor like it was before – would pref not to drag the canvas to the second monitor

    thx.

I believe the other options there ARE secondary — it just doesn’t say so. So “digital cinema preview – full screen” means “full screen on the secondary monitor. It assumes that for the most part you’re going to use the secondary monitor as your preview — that is, the one which does not have a menu bar.

Thx for your response Lu, but the only option is primary – no secondary or other…

so when I click on digital cinema it displays the full display on the primary monitor – the one with the menubars…

    Hi,
I have the exact same problem since this morning when I upgraded my MacPro from Tiger to Leopard.
I didn’t format anything, just ran the update and installed the newest drivers for my AJA Kona LHe.
Now the digital cinema desktop preview options have all disapeared exept for the “main” one which is pretty useless if you have 3 monitors…
The 2 apple cinema displays are both recognised in the Leopard’s system preferences and set up as extended desktop just like before, when it worked…

Has anyone found a solution for this yet ?
