i’m doing a slide show, with quite a bit of movement across some of the stills with dissolves in between. many of these dissolves are pretty chunky when finally rendered out to a DVD through DVD SP4, though the rest of the video/stills look quite good. i went back into FCP and put compression markers in the middle of each dissolve, which seemed to help a little, but the problem is still there. is there any other way around this?

also, i have one still where i have the shot move down, and there are some horiontal lines in the picture. when it is rendered and burned to a DVD, there is quite a bit of aliasing/stair-stepping, but when i just scrub through the timeline, these stair steps are not there.

    any ideas?

thanks for helping out a bonehead,

    Mortimer,

For slideshows in FCP try using PanzoomPro from lyric.com. Or, get a copy of Fotomagico, it’s about 5 times faster than FCP’s motion tab, and all the dissolves I have done with it pass through DVDSP just fine.

    Have a wonderful day.
