  Diagonal; Frame

  Is there a way to make a diagonal frame in FCP ei … cut the frame in half along the diagonal) so that I can run two clips on the diagonal from each other in one frame?

  Try Effects>Video Filters>Matte>Four-Point Garbage Matte. Add to each layer of video.

  On one, change the point 1 data to be 0 & 0. On the other, change point 3 to be 0 & 0.

  If memory serves, the point 1 data change will mask off the top and left portion, and the point 3 will mask off the bottom and right portion.
