  Capturing from JVC GYHD100U 720 24p via Firewire

  I am trying to capture footage shot 720 24p playing back from the camera. The only capture that works at all is the Apple Intermediate HDV, but the clip plays back speeded up (because of the 24/30 frame rate difference.

  Has anyone captured from this camera via firewire? And if yes, please, please, please tell me how.

  That camera is not on the list of supported devices for FCP. Do a search on this forum for what software you need to buy as a workaround.

  The camera works, if you shoot 720p30.

  Its the 24p format that doesn’t work.

  i captured from this camera on the weekend.

  i used HDVxDV.

  they have a 30day demo, i think.
  $80 to buy

  there is also Lumiere HD

  no demo, and $260 to buy!

  but i would try
  DVHSCap, which i only learnt of after i;d sent the cameras back
  this is part of the FireWire SDK 19 package free from the apple developers site.

  this aparantly can be used to capture the footage,

  then you can use the free Mpeg Streamclip to convert it into something FCP likes.

  i used HDVxDV to capture,
  and i;’m using MPEG Streamclip to convert as it’s a bit slicker than HDVxDV
