Hi. When I select a clip in the Browser and play it in the Viewer, it plays correctly. However, when I select a clip in the Timeline and play it back in the Viewer, it stutters badly. All widows are sized correctly (fit to window), and no windows overlap. I’ve trashed the Preferences and reloaded them to no avail. Any suggestions? Thank you all in advance for any advice.

If you could be a little more forthcoming about your system specs, that would be a huge help in trying to diagnose your problem. Type of Mac, type of media drives (and how full are they) how much RAM, OS version, Quicktime version, FCP version, etc. There is no cut and dried answer to your problem without knowing what your system is.

This is just a wild guess: if you’re trying to play back a clip from the timeline that has unrendered effects applied, try going to Safe RT and rendering first before playback.
