Cannot Render
FCP will not render any of the clips in my timeline that need rendering. I’ve exhausted all the options in the Render Selection, Render All, and Render Only menus with no avail. Don’t know if this makes a difference, but the Render Manager menu in the Tools pulldown shows no folder. But i think there’s no folder because nothing has been rendered. Is there a setting that i might be missing in one of the A/V setting or preferences folders. The only other issue that i’m not 100% on which might be throwing off the system is how i prepared FCP before capturing 24p footage. In the Easy Setup if forgot to change the setup from DV NTSC to the 24p setting. What’s the deal here????

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

Make sure that every line is CHECKED in your render settings under Render All, etc. That is often overlooked.

That FCP Rescue seems to have worked like a charm. What purpose do the preferences serve, and is there any risk in deleting them. Probably should have posted this before I trashed them. Oh well live and learn, but seems to have fixed the render problem.

Anything you changed in the User & System Preferences, or if you customized any layouts or the keyboard will be gone.
It basically resets the system to “factory default”, as it was right after you installed it.
If you saved your layouts and keyboard, you just have to reload them. User and System prefs you changed will have to be re-set. Once you get them where you want them, you can launch FCP Rescue and use that to backup the new prefs so the next time you use FCP Rescue, you can restore those prefs after a trashing.
