missing apple firewire
i just formatted my mac and re installed tiger and fcHD 4.5 and dvd studio pro. i started up my final cut with all the latest updates installed and with my sony dsr-11 deck powered up and connected properly. i get the grey box before fC loads up saying cant find media device. saying that my firewire is missing.. now i thought it might be my deck so i hooked my camera up to the computer and still get the same thing. so i hit continue and went to log and capture and i have device control i can control my deck and camera via the controls from FCP. but yet all i see is the color bars no video. it says vtr ok below as well… can anyone diagnose my problem

First thing to do is check you capture settings and make sure your set to input through the Firewire. If you have deck control the system is recognizing the deck but may not be “seeing” the video feed because you have it set to a different input.

ive gone to video audo settings and went to make sure my capture settings was set to firewire.. all it says is (missing)apple firewire it doesnt give me anything to select.. is this the place your talking about… if not can u direct me on how to get there to change my input

no matter what i do i get this grey window in the beginning saying
Unable to locate the following external devies:
Apple Firewire NTSC (720×480)
your system configuration may have changed, or your deck/camera
may be disconnected or turned off.
please check your connections and click “check again”, or click
“continue” to set external device selection to None.ive checked and switched the cables ive switched from my deck to my camera and still get the same thing?
