24fps animation project started in a 29.97 sequence

Started an animation job today. The animation will be done in Flash, composited in After Effects, and edited in FCP 5. The animators will be getting their timing, frame counts, and lipsynch from small reference quicktimes generated from an animatic (still storyboard images + animation tests + sound; also known as a Lyca Reel) which was created in FCP 5 by another editor.
In animation, we usually work in 24fps and I was led to believe that this project would be as well, yet when I checked the settings, I noticed that the entire sequence’s time base was set to 29.97!
Now, I need to provide the animators with accurate frame counts in 24fps and was going to apply the timecode filter to each quicktime. I was also planning on using the animatic sequence all the way through the process – replacing the rough storyboards with finished animation as they became available.
Is there a way I can convert this sequence to 24fps without incurring alot of damage? How do you think I should proceed?
Thank you for your time and knowledge.
