Anamorphic, Scope, etc Problems!
Okay I dont know if this is just a glitch in the program, but for some reason everyonce in a while the footage I am editing (which was shot anamorphic 16:9) gets squeezed in my Anamorphic sequences. After I while I figured out that if I went under Motion>Distort> and looked at the aspect ratio of the indiv. clips that somehow the settings were changed to -33.33 which was the reason for the distortion. So I thought everything was fine and continued to drag my clips on the sequences hoping to edit. My next problem came when I went to add the scope widescreen on (2.35) and it looks more like 4.35 if that even exists. Does anyone know what I or the program is doing wrong?
This happens to me every once in a while but I can never figure out a definitive way to fix it or a reason for the problems. Thank you for your time.
Hopefully I have included enough information to generate some responses, but if you need more please reply. Please reply if you can help I am pulling out my hair and this is a problem because I generally like my hair. Also I would really like to finish the project! -

Look at your clips in the browser and find the anamorphic column, do all of the clips have a checkmark in the anamorphic column? Is your sequence set up to be anamorphic? Hit apple-zero and see if the little anamorphic 16:9 checkbox is checked.
This should help clear up your matte issues as well.

All but two of the bins that have clips in them are all checked anamorphic… but the two scenes I was working on they arent checked anamorphic. All of my sequences have the anamorphic 16:9 box checked.
So, for those two scenes do I have to reimport all of those clips or can I make them change by just checking the anamorphic column..? That seems too easy. -
Okay Well I just did what you said about the checkboxes and it actually worked… I still have to change the aspect ratio from -33.33 to 0 for each one, but I’ll take it. Thank you so much and I will definitely remember this if it happens again!

You have to check the anamorphic in the bin, it’s that easy…kind of. If you have to add any more of these clips to your timeline, they will go in properly. Any clips that are in your timeline will have to be changed to anamorphic. To do this, control click (or right click if you have the mouse for it) and select item properties->format. Then select the anamorphic box there. Now, there should be no distortion on the clip and it should look stretched on your monitor (tall horses skinny cowboys). Then you should hit the 16:9 button on your monitor and the image will then be letterboxed, make sense?

Then you should hit the 16:9 button on your monitor and the image will then be letterboxed on the monitor but retain full image quality in FCP, make sense?
