anyone use a wacom tablet with FCP?
just got an intuos3 and was wondering if anyone here used one with FCP?
I was looking at getting Xgestures to reduce the amount time I have to reach for the KB… anyone done this and how have you found it?
I think one of the main things I would love to be able to do is jog and go frame by frame using gestures…. anyone tried this?

I have a used a tablet for editing for about 8 years now, first with Media 100 and now with FCP. I don’t use gestures, I just use wacom in place of a mouse and it definitely makes the editing process go faster, especially with dual monitors.
For jog / shuttle I have the Bella Pro keyboard which has a wheel built right into it. Or I can just use the controls in the viewer / canvas.

I’m running the Intuos 3 in both suites. One is 9×12 and the other ix 6×8.

i use the wacom intous 3 9×12 and it realy does speed up the job. its the greatest thing ever

I use the Intuos 3 9×12 on my desktop and the 4×5 on my laptop.
The big one is probably overkill, but it was essentially a gift, so I didn’t get to choose. I may have chosen the 6×8.
I don’t use gestures, either. I tried with Motion, but it was a work style my brain wasn’t ready for. Like the others, I use it as a mouse. I am left handed, however. I came of age in the days when you didn’t get to choose which side of the computer you moused from, so I use the mouse with my right hand. For me, it’s more of an augmentation for the mouse than a replacement. I find switching up which hand I use helps with fatigue on both my wrists. If you’re not at least slightly ambidextrous, you might not be able to reap that benefit of using the table with one hand and mousing with the other.

I do like the 9×12 when working in photoshop. Cutting mattes is much easier on the large tablet.
You asked for FCP reviews, so I didn’t think of this when I was posting…
If you intend on doing photoshop work, then the 9×12 maybe isn’t overkill!!

Graphire 1, Graphire 2, Intuos, and Intuos 3 widescreen. The Intuos Widescreen 11×6, I think is by far and a way the nicest wacom I’ve used.

thx for responses guy, any tips on what u use the quick buttons for? I’m configuring now (have an intuos3 9×12) and I’ll eventually have a set of my own.
also have a bella keyboard, but the jog shuttle on it kinda SUX, because it lags…
maybe it’s cos i’m working in 10 bit 444 HD…at home on an SD premier pro I have a contour shuttle pro and it’s great… again, maybe it’s because of the higher resolution area that I work in that is causing the lag in FCP…
