  • FCP 4.5 not reading camera

Posted by Ben Baudhuin on February 18, 2006 at 1:16 am

I am trying to capture using FCP 4.5 and a Panasonic DVX 100A When I start up fcp it is not reading the external device, however when I open the capture window it gives me control of the camera ie.. fast fwd rwd play and it plays on the camera. So it’s controlling the cam but no picture is visible in the capture window. I tried deleting preferences and messing with my settings in fcp, also I have captured something with the same model camera on my computer, but not this exact cam. Are there any camera/computer settings I’m overlooking? Also the system profiler sees the camera is connected. it reads it and says there is a panasonic connected. So I’m stumped. can anyone help?
    thanks Ben Baudhuin

Might try trashing preferences in case they are corrupt, or there’s a read here on this: https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852

I tried trashing the preferences already, it was one of the first things that I tried. I will try the quicktime but I am already running the newest version of it. Could it be the camera? Or does QT7 not run well with FCP 4.5?

I think FCP 4.5 runs best in QT 6.5.2… but i’ve seen it run OK with 7… Do the reinstall and see if indeed it helps.
