My system freezes up when rendering moves, zooms and other effects. More often when working with JPG’s (not large!). The video will also freeze, however, mainly when doing multi-effects, especially when I am trying to slomo in addition to other

One is empty, the other is haf full. It has also been suggested that one of my newer DRAM modules may be flaking out.

General rule is that ALL drives connected to the computer, whether they’re being used by FCP or not, need to have at least 20% space free.

Try freeing up some of the space on that full drive and see if it helps!

you may have too many effects for the proc to do a good job. try cutting the timeline footage into segments and rendering each seperately.

I am working with basic effects, nothing wacky (a little movement, some enlarging the images)….for some reason, it only acts up when i am working with JPG’s, not too large, either.

Are you sure that you have all of your full rt effects set to be rendered? Go to the sequence menu and select the full option under “render all” and “render selection” menus. To me, it sounds like you have a drive problem. Which drive are your render files currently being pointed to?

Turn on the dropped frame warnings in your user preferences to see if your drives just aren’t keeping up.
