• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  Hi all, i am a new comer to the world of digital video, how can i obtail the best Mpeg2 file after i finish all the editing in FCP?

  I am going to make a DVD using DVD studio Pro along side, but i really can’t get a good resolution though the Quick time encoder.

  i have try the compressor, there is a function seems to smooth out the edges of the pixel (seems to have a better clear vision), but it cost me 30Hr to encode a 3 mins video on a 1.8GHz G5!

  Is there any alternative to obtain the clearest vision from FCP5?

  Apple’s Compressor is quick and it’s included in FCP Studio.
  If you need more parameter-control and better results, try BitVice

  there is no benefit to setting any of the frame resizing filters and that sort, such as detail level, and antialiasing, and motion filtering, and all that crap when encoding with compressor. Just follow a preset and it should look just fine.

  What codec are you editing in on the timeline?

  You mention the need to smooth pixels. If you are having problems with text, graphics or photo edges, it may be that your QuickTime Video Settings in your sequence is set to DV. This will make your graphics look kind of crappy.

  What version FCP are you using?

  If you are using FCP4 and have QuickTime 6.5 installed, EXPORT a self contained QuickTime movie using the 8bit Uncompressed video SETTING.

  Then open this movie in QuickTime and do am EXPORT from QuickTime to MPEG-2. Set your OPTIONS to ONE PASS. Target Bit Rate 6.5 Mbps and Motion Estimation Best.

  If your video was good to begin with, this should get you good looking DVDs.

  You’ll also have to convert the audio from AIFF to AC3 using APack. Here’s info on that:
