  Will HDV and DV work on the same Timeline?

  HI

  I’m about to online a film on FCP5, which is mostly HDV (PAL), but also has some DV-PAL footage. Can I put these on the same timeline?

  Also, as HDV is Upper Field, and PAL is Lower Field, will this cause a problem?

  Combining any two formats in Final Cut will require you to render whichever format is different from the project-settings.

  You’re much better off converting the files that are different to the same format BEFORE you import them into your project. It takes some time up front but you’ll save a ton of time while editing.
