  • Editing to tape seems to work, but NO video gets recorded (only black)

When I “edit-to-tape” a sequence with uncompressed NTSC video (8bit) via SDI to my Digibeta, all is fine.

But when I attempt to to the same thing with a sequence that contains only DV-NTSC material, only the audio gets recorded properly, not the video. The deck goes into record (ASSEMBLE EDIT), but the VIDEO seems to FREEZE at the first frame of the sequence and then stays that way throughout the recording.

I’m using a Decklink HD/SD Single link card, recording to the A500 deck via embedded SDI.

    Any ideas??

    Many thanks!

Your output setting is wrong. You need to change it to the timeline settings of say… KONA SD NTSC 10bit or whatever you’re editing at.

Try creating a new sequence in 8 bit uncompressed NTSC, drop the dv material in and render. Then try laying off to the digibeta.

First look at your ouput settings in FINAL CUT… this has happened to me before when switching through different project of different codecs like DV and 8bit and 10bit.

FINAL CUT/AV SETTINGS/SUMMARY/VIDEO OUT (choose correct one)

Thanks, that worked. I guess I was under the assumption that if I capture using the DV codec (as offline), then output via SDI to Digibeta, that the Decklink card would handle this without rendering.
