  • Will this machine play DVCPRO?

Posted by Dannielle Or dad on January 10, 2006 at 12:21 am

Got this machine: https://tinyurl.com/d22r7 for my daughter as part of her FCP Mac G5 configuration. I’ve been reading up on formats and I can’t tell if DVCPRO will play on this or not. The machine doc doesn’t reference DVCPRO but several articles I’ve seen make it appear that the machine will handle the format. Can anyone provide the definitive word?

    Thanks.

I don’t think so. There’s no reference to that format, only DVCAM. What does the retailer say?

I have sent them an email. It’s B & H Photo Video in NY. Thanks for the suggestion.

This deck will not playback or record DVCPro. It will playback DVCAM. This deck only supports 720P HDV.

Thanks for all the replies. Turns out she was provided with raw footage in HDCAM so we’re not even in the neighborhood with our hardware. Sigh. Will possibly look at a Sony JH3 deck rental or someone to do conversions at a modest cost.

As Emily Litella used to say: “Never mind.”
