I am trying to export a sequence to Soundtrack. I only have audio tracks. I am editing 40
videos for radio and only have the soundtracks on the timeline. When I go to export to
soundtrack, (I need to make MP3’s) the “Audio” only option is grayed out. I can only export
as Video and Audio together or just video. Is this a bug… or what am I missing? I have tried
toggling various settings on the video track with no change. Thanks in advance for your
    help.

    Use this:

    File > Export > Audio to AIFF(s)

You can also use iTunes to make very good quality mp3s from AIFF(s).

Well… I could, but that is an extra step. This SHOULD work, but it doesn’t. With 40 half hour programs, I just want to send to Soundtrack and crunch a MP3.

This DOES work if you ask it nicely or at least tell it the right command. Instead of going File>export for soundtrack. Go File>SEND TO>Soundtrack Pro multi project. Then when the next window pops up to name the project, UNCHECK the box that says include background video.

I tried. In the Send To box everything is grayed out except the Soundtrack Pro Script. I even started Soundtrack but no-go. I wonder if the update will fix this? My boss told me there is one available for FCP so I will get it tonight. Any other ideas?

Did you have the sequence selected in the browser when you tried this?

I’m still new to FCP even though I have used it just for DVD preparation and DVDStudio Pro for 2 years. I just never edited that much. But we just moved the Stratosphere out and now here we are. I always had the sequence active by clicking in it… but that was not enough. thanks again.

You might want to check out SoundConverter. https://www.dekorte.com/projects/shareware/SoundConverter/ It’s a cool little $10 app that batch converts. You could actually batch export via compressor to aiff, then use this app to batch convert to mp3. You just drag a file or group of files and drop them on the open app and it converts them to the settings that you previously set up and saves them in their original folder. I use it all the time to convert 44.1 stereo mp3’s to 48k mono aiff’s, as well as my producer sends me scratch VO tracks from his ibook in m4a files. Again, stereo 44.1 to mono 48k aiff to use in fcp. I never convert audio in iTunes anymore.

    Have fun.
