  Edit to tape doesn’t do INSERTS

  i am using FCP 4.5 on G5 dual, using a sony DSR 11.
  When i do edit to tape command , i can assemble but inserts doesn’t work at all, i tried using other decks but it doesn’t seem to work at all, any one has any tips?

  Most DV decks do not support Insert editing, only Assemble.

  If you connect to a deck that supports it, like a Beta SP or Digibeta deck, it works fine.

  thanks man ofr the response, do you have any recommendation on Dv deck that supports inserts, or how do i look for them when going through specs, Thanks again

  I think the DSR 2000 and 1800 can do it. (and I believe, only with DVCAM not miniDV)

  As far as I’m aware it’s a Firewire issue (somebody correct me if I’m wrong!). If you’ve got a deck with RS422 control on then you should be able to do it, but the Firewire control won’t allow inserts.
