    Hi,
Im pretty new to FCP 5, and am diving in to multiclip world. I have a 3 camera edit to do of some workout instruction. I did not have the timecode synched at the shoot, but have set in-points on the clips for synching within FCP. So here’s the question (and some of you may laugh). I want to be able to see all 3 of my synched cameras in the viewer window as my selected clips play out in the canvas (and DV output). As of now, I can see only frames of the 3 clips in the viewer (the viewer appears to be “paused”) when my video plays back on the timeline. So I have to guess at the action of the 2 cameras that are not selected. I know you can “activate” the camera in the canvas viewer before making an actual cut, but there must be some way to view all 3 cams in real time while making your cuts. Its tough to make the edits when you cannot see what the other two cameras are doing. I’m sure its something simple that I’m just missing.

    Thanks!

I don’t want to be harsh, this being the holiday season and all,
but you really should read the manual. It’s very clear how all the
multicam stuff within FCP works. If you are going to spend
this kind of money on software and you want to get your
money’s worth out of it, read your manual.
    Having said that…..

If you have a sequence loaded that you have cut from
a multiclip, go to the top of the canvas. There are three
buttons. The middle one select “open”. Now when you
play the sequence, the viewer will play all three of your
cameras in real time. If you want to see all three cameras
out your DV feed, go to the view menu, the last item,
show multiclip angles. This toggles the cut version
or the three cameras out to your NTSC monitor.

Thanks for the advice. I know the manuals are always the first place to check. I did get into the manual, and had everything else figured. Sometimes the manuals are a little overwhelming, and dont always give an intuitive answer. Thats when I check in with the Cow community. I appreciate what you said, and thank you for your advice
(which was good advice) on the problem at hand. No harshness taken.
