IDVD has issues with LiveType maybe?
What I did: shot footage with a Sony PD150 in NTSC format, captured it to my G5 2.3 Dual, edited with FCP including LiveType graphics.
Now I want to burn it with iDVD.
I tried all, as written in FCP’s manual for peparing a movie for iDVD.
Once, exporting my edit as Export->Quicktime Movie->do not make movie self contained
and
Once as Export->using Quicktime Compression-> format ->DV Stream
always using the default settings.Now, every time I build an iDVD project and drag there any of the file types made as stated above, the iDVD preview will show a perfect running movie till the end, then goes back to menu.
But when I click BURN, it rewards me with this vague information:

The encoder settings of your project don’t match iDVD’s default value in Preferences
Do you want to change the setting and keep your encoded assets in the project?
********in the second after entire iDVD crashes. This, again and again, after restarting computer, after re-rendering movies, after re-creating the iDVD project from scratch.
Can please anyone that obviously speaks Macinoshish better than me, interpret what my toy is trying to communicate, that I don’t get?
While reading all iDVD manuals and stuff I discovered that it can’t burn Flash files. Of course I didn’t use any. But, is Live Type based on Flash (sorry for the ignorance if any). Could it be it doesnt want to nurn the project because I used LiveType in it?

PS. when I try to export my FCP project as
Export->using Quicktime Compression-> format ->.mov
it ALWAYS gives me the “General Error” sweet words that we all so love. Is it normal?PPS. Shall I simply give up on iDVD and run my movie through Compressor? All I want is to burn a DVD that can be viewable in consumer DVD players.

Sorry, there’s nothing inherent in LT’s filetypes or settings that would make it unstable or unusable in iDVD. Once your FCP project is completely rendered, you can export a reference movie and drop it right into iDVD. burn. That’s all there is to it. Usually.
I cannot begin to imagine what your problems might be but there is no need to export anything more complicated than a reference movie from FCP when going to iDVD.

thank you for at least helping me feel less aggressive 🙂 against LiveType itself. I have to focus my aggression on iDVD. I always knew I hate it! LOL Since years ago it wasn’t ever as if it would do anything smoothly.

oh…how sad. I trashed all FCP preferences and iDVD preferences and nothing helps.
the MEDIA PANE should show automaticaly display all movies stored on my computer (says manual).
but it shows NOTHING. nothing of the tons mini and maxi movies I have, not the .mov or .dv or anything. If I search anything else, photos, music, all appears in the Media Pane.
But NOT any movie! Why should it? Maybe this brand new G5 is just ment to toast bread.
Is this a common problem?
Any chance to talk to the Apple People directly?
Even if I tried direct import from my DvCam in iDVD for instant burning it still crashed on the way…

You’re having operating system issues, then.
Try the usually wasteful Repair Permissions (see the Mac OS Help).
You may need to create a new user account on your machine. This often helps with obscure problems like what you are describing.BTW: I have never trashed my prefs in an OS10 application. Not ever.
