When I use the Delete key, it shifts everything else in the track (which is a pain coming from Media 100). However, when I use the clear command from the edit drop down box things do no shift around in the track. Is there a keystroke to accomplish this? Next to the clear command is an icon that looks like the delete icon but it is facing the other way. Is there a key that equils clear?

I do understand about locking down tracks but I am still working on them and do not want to lock them down. Any comments on how to keep everything from shifting around with every edit. Right now, (being a new convert from Media 100)I am finding all the shifting of clips bothersom. Any comments(Besides get used to it)?

Use Backspace for “clear” and Delete for, well ripple deleting.

“Apple” + “X” will cut the selected clip with out shifting the time line.

    that shouldn’t be happening, Mike.

SHIFT Delete is the “Ripple Delete” key combo.
Delete on it;s own should do what you want: remove the section and leave a gap.

    Maybe check your keyboard layout,
but most likely this is a case where trashing preffs is in order.

oh, yes, somebody in a post below talks about a corrupt sequence.
this could, be the case here,

so copy all in your timeline,
    make a new seq,
    and paste into there.

    normal behaviour might return.

    try this first, it;s easier.

I’ve always had this problem, when you hit the delete key next to the end key above your arrows it will ripple delete….so just hit the backspace delete, it’s just as easy, you’ll get used to it. Later
