rerendering when clip is split.
Posted by Pat Kingery on December 8, 2005 at 4:42 amIf I video on v1 and V2 and then I razorblade v1 FCP5 wants to rerender the whole clip. Also happens when I go a extend the length of a clip FCP wants to re render the entire thing? Any ideas as to what is going on. I’ve trashed prefs etc.

December 8, 2005 at 11:56 amI’m guessing you have an effect or Motion Tab setting on the V1 clip.
This is normal. -

December 8, 2005 at 2:38 pmThis is a major pain. I believe they will fix it someday, but for now this is another “normal” condition that makes Final Cut a little less “Pro.”

December 8, 2005 at 8:29 pmYou made a vertical video effect that is not RT, correct? Then you alter that clip which requires a totally new render file to display.
I’m sorry if I’m not seeing the problem, but that’s totally normal behavior of any non-RT effect.

December 9, 2005 at 4:10 amno not a vertical video effect
if there is a 90 second track on v1 and the last 10 seconds of that is covered by a track on v2, I put an effect on v1 – it renders. I then razor balde the clip on v1 anywhere and FCP wants to re-render the v1 clip…

December 9, 2005 at 4:58 amWhat are the full spec of your sequences settings and the full specs of your media? Are they exactly the same?
All the best,
Tom
