I know this is a pro forum and I have been in the business for nearly 10 years so please excuse the domestic nature of this question!

I am looking for a decent practical camcorder (probably Sony) for just doing the home stuff with the family. I keep getting asked also by friends – and don’t know because my experience is only with pro gear. So my question is what is good out there – what offers nice pics, good sound, with something really small and practical? Perhaps in the price range

Sony makes the DCR-TRV950 (newer version of the TVR900),
and the PDX10. They are home-video sized, with 3-CCD image sections.

Panasonic makes several “home video sized” 3-CCD camcorders.
    (PV-GS 250, PV-GS400, and others)

I’ve used the Sonys and they look spectacular.
The Panny’s look good in the store, but I’ve not used them in the field.

    Do some research on Google.
